Art Academy of Latvia Action Plan 2012-2020

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Within the framework of the PROGRAMME FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION, on 13 December 2011 the Boriss and Inara Teterev Foundation (BITF) and the Art Academy of Latvia (AAL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at the strategic development of a high-value art education, in order to facilitate the development of the sector of art and the creative potential. To achieve the goals of the memorandum, BITF contracted Dynamic University to implement the project and set two tasks: to examine and analyse the current status quo and to develop a detailed strategic action plan for 2012–2020.

PROJECT SOLUTION AND RESULT

During the examination and analysis stage, Dynamic University prepared a detailed institutional profile of the AAL and subsequently developed a Mid-Term Report “AAL Analysis Stage Results” providing an overview of the implemented activities, methodologies used, set of tools applied as well as the results of the analysis stage. Within the context of the examination and analysis stage, the following was accomplished:

  • the most important AAL-related information was collected;
  • a profile of the AAL in U-Map system was prepared;
  • benchmarking of the AAL against other European art HEIs selected by the AAL was conducted;
  • institutional self-assessment in EFQM excellence model was carried out;

  • a student survey was conducted;
  • participation in the AAL alumni survey was ensured;
  • a survey of the AAL faculties and divisions was conducted;
  • an analysis of stakeholders’ roles and impact was prepared.

Following the completion of the project’s research activities, based on the most important conclusions drawn within the framework of each component and grouped according to the three previously-identified project objectives, a SWOT analysis was prepared. Subsequently, those results were used as an input to the development of the strategic action plan.

During the final stage of project implementation, with active participation of the AAL management and faculty, the strategic action plan 2012–2020 of the AAL was prepared, inter alia defining:

  • the AAL strategic map, defining the vision, mission, values (and a detailed outline thereof), stakeholders, priorities, objectives and enablers;
  • strategic goals of the AAL for 2012–2020 as well as the key performance indicators and outcome indicators identified for attaining the goals;
  • strategic development objectives of the AAL for 2012–2020 as well as the main strategic initiatives.
