International conference “Evoking Excellence in Higher Education and Beyond” to take place on 4th & 5th October 2012

On 4th and 5th October 2012 an international conference initiated by the Professorship "Talent Development in Higher Education and Society" and Professor drs. M.V.C. Wolfensberger, hosted by the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, the Netherlands, will take place.

The aim of the conference is to gain a better understanding of how to evoke excellence in higher education and beyond, and to address the gap between practice and research on education for gifted and highly motivated students. During the conference, recent research and good practices will be presented and discussed in a series of presentations, poster presentations, round table discussions and workshops.

As indicated by the host, nearly one hundred submissions from researchers, lecturers and teachers, students, practitioners, policy makers and other professionals from nine different countries have been received so far.

Prominent speakers from various countries will share the latest insights and ideas. Confirmed speakers include Thom de Graaf (President of the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences HBO-raad and member of the Senate), John Zubizarreta (Professor of English and Director of the Honors College, Columbia College), Remy Rikers (Professor of Educational and Developmental Psychology, Erasmus University Rotterdam), Kirsi Tirri (Professor of Education, University of Helsinki), Gregory Lanier en Richard Scott (President and President-Elect of the National Collegiate Honors Council).
